Together with Fortress GB, the organisation has launched The One Card. This card is an all-in-one, season ticket solution and member card with contactless payment capabilities. Additionally, cardholders can use it to gain entrance to stadiums and make online or point-of-sale purchases at participating merchants. The card will be available for the UK sports market.
Wirecard will issue the card. Brian Lawlor, the company’s director of sales and business development says it “will help speed up sales, creating an attractive proposition for clubs across the UK wanting to offer a top-class service to loyal and dedicated fans”. Moreover, he says it will meet expectations of fans who “have embraced contactless payments and now expect a quick and convenient point of sale transaction”.
The card will also reduce waiting times and queues during important matches.
Fortress has been at the forefront of the adoption of digital ticketing and RFID/NFC use technology in sports and entertainment. It’s innovative platform also supports game-day operations and fan engagement. Duncan Martin, development consultant at Fortress, noted that the company extensively searched for a partner who understood its strategic goals and what it meant to work in stadium environments. Wirecard was that company, and his company happily chose them and looks forward to rolling out the programme in 2018, he says.
Wirecard innovates on the digitisation of payments and has 16 years of market experience. It currently has more than 25,000 clients all of which who take advantage of cutting edge technology, support developing offline, online, or mobile international payment strategies, and real time, transparent reporting services. Additionally, the company offers end-to-end infrastructures for parties interested in issuing their own payment solutions in the form of card or mobile payments.
