Financial Inclusion: MasterCard is not giving up

Global Payments Platform MasterCard has continued on it’s pledge towards financial inclusion, and expanded in to a worldwide commitment of bringing 1 billion people and 50 million MSMEs into the digital economy by 2025. The strategy has as a sub goal to include 25 million women entrepeneurs in this and to provide them with the specific tools they need to succeed. This new commitment comes on top of MasterCard’s intial commitment in 2015 to bring 500 million people into the financial system. “If we’re going to recover in any sort of long-term, sustainable way, we have to make sure that everyone is included. Getting people access to the digital economy is a critical part of that,” says Ajay Banga, chief executive officer at Mastercard.
