14 Feb Conny Dorrestijn shares observations from Finovate Day One
Holland FinTech advisory board member Conny Dorrestijn from SHIRAZ Partners was kind enough to send us her observations from day one of Finovate Europe event in London.
Day one of Finovate Europe was all about the Revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2), APIs and all sorts of innovative UIs (user interfaces) in the Digital Identity and on-boarding space. According to Conny, companies can not get by with a poor UI anymore in the digital identity & on-boarding space in this day and age.
Another important area of focus on day one was the integration of biometrics in robos and on-boarding. Internet of Things (IoT) was much less visible, which Conny says isn’t surprising considering the negative PR and mounting security issues making the news as of late.
There were quite a few countries present and the UK and US dominance was certainly not noticeable. Brett King was also in attendance to launch the UK presence of US-based provider of mobile financial services Movenbank.
Below you can read through a few of the observations Conny provided about some of the standout companies & innovators present at Finovate.
nCino (US) • a successful US banking services platform based on Salesforce that is setting on Europe with its cloud-based banking solutions
Five Degrees (NL) • offers digital banking and CRM tools, as well as robo advice services. They presented at Finovate with UK disruptive investment provider Munnypot for Robo Advice connecting to a Sitecore portal, Ortec services and SEI wealth platform.
Signicat (NO) • a cloud-based digital identity and on-boarding service with more than 200 clients and an excellent UI. It presented a very broad range of ID verification, from upload documents to government used IDs, and live video ID checks with recognition software.
Aquibix (MA) • a KYC portal and the most impressive of the day. It has an elaborate but insightful organogram structure to track very complex large corporate customers. Other areas Aquibix is excelling in included on-boarding, digital ID, PSD2, fraud monitoring, and biometrics.
Moven (US) • a banking engagement platform for new, neo and non-banks in the cloud, and the only one of its kind that is currently profitable. It offers gamification, behaviour analysis, and robo services.
DSwiss (CH) • Along with UBS, presented its product UBSSafe, a personal business safe for anything of value. The company offers a great idea for payments data, as it allows customers to search through their entire transaction history.
HooYu.com (UK) • Conny’s ‘find of the show’ Global ID confirmation service for C2C, B2C and B2B. Also used for on-boarding and in connection to full KYC solutions.
