14 Jun Recap of Holland FinTech June Meetup Amsterdam
Last Friday, Holland Fintech was happy to host the monthly meetup at the Dutch Payment Association. With over a hundred attendees, the stage was set for an interesting evening with great presentations and good drinks. A recap.
Host Pieter Mallekoote from the Dutch Payment Association introduced the audience to their work and activities. Their focus lies on optimising and increasing transparency in the payment system. They tackle all areas of the payment landscape from security and fraud to debit card transactions and POS. Right now they work on preparing the Netherlands for the introduction of European wide payment area. Don Ginsel from Holland FinTech took the stage subsequently to introduce new faces to what we do and loyal visitors to how we are doing now. The first of our members to pitch their start-up was Eduard Tee from Lendahand, a crowdfunding platform that connects investors with entrepreneurs in developing countries. Although not common it is a very logical and fruitful link. The platform provides investors with easy access to new markets and provides funds to locals to start their own businesses. Virtual Affairs, second presenter of this afternoon, showed how they build financial solutions for big institutions.
They have the skills and knowledge needed in the dynamic financial world. Third up was Bernd Vinke from Debiteuren Beurs which helps SME’s maintain a healthy and constant cash flow through invoice financing. Financial planner PensioenPod was the fourth presenter today. CEO Erik Dortland presented the platform which provides a clear overview of incomes and expenses and prepares future retirees with their standard of living after retiring. Geert Jan Beekman followed with a presentation about Startup Project EU. This data refinery tool helps entrepreneurs get insights into the success or failure of their startup and how they can change course. Closing off was Maeve Quigley from Ingenico Payments, known for their versatile payment solutions.
Debiteurenbeurs presented their solution also being very relevant for logistics industry players. Many transportation companies, for example, can leverage their cash flow improvement platform. Also, Ingenico plays an important role in the supply chain. Specifically, one of the services they deliver is focused on buying companies in e-commerce. Their payments are in good hands with the service of this payment provider.
After six great presentations, it was time for some drinks to meet up with friends and share insights from the session. We would like to thank everyone for attending and the Dutch Payment Association in specific for hosting the event at their nice venue. Don’t miss our next meetups and check regularly at our Meetup Channel for the upcoming meetups and hope to see you again at one of our meetups, every second Friday of the month!
