In the first half of 2017, Symbid reports that it has been involved in 27% of the venture capital crowdfunding in the Netherlands. The crowdfunder sees that this type of crowdfunding is gaining popularity among firms to grow their business, in which more established companies and leading investors are growing to be part of. As a result of more business angels are investing via Symbid, the average invested amount has been increased.
Market share in the Netherlands
Founded in 2011, Symbid was among the first crowdfunding company to publicly trade shares on a platform. In the first half of 2017, Symbid was involved with 27% of the total amount of venture capital crowdfunding in the Netherlands. Within convertible loans – a form of venture capital – the market share was 39.7%. Robin Slakhorst of Symbid added: “We are delighted to witness that more entrepreneurs see the benefit of financing using own equity.”
Larger campaigns for established entrepreneurs and companies
The average amount raised per crowdfunding campaigns in the first half of 2017 was more than €250.000, in comparison with the total market for crowdfunding for entrepreneurs €97.000. Symbid also witnesses an evident growth in the average invested amount. This amount increased from €900 in 2016 to €1047 in the first half of 2017. According to Robin Slakhorts, more business angels are investing via Symbid. As a result of the larger amounts they invest, the average invested amount has been increased.
