Dear reader,
This week scientist have reported in Nature that the majority of the planet’s fossil fuel reserves must stay in the ground if the world wants at least 50% chance at meeting its target of maximum 1,6 degrees Celsius temperature rise.
On the other hand, the continued spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has spawned a Greek alphabet of variants - as monitored by the World Health Organization (WHO). The Delta variant is now still most dominant around the world, but other mutations are gaining momentum.
Meanwhile, we are back with the news in fintech, exploring the latest news, investments, reports and opinions on fintech, cybersecurity, cryptos, banking, partnerships, payments and more! This week’s prominent fundings are shared by multiple sectors, including real estate technology, mobile money, scaling solutions, cryptocurrency, payment solutions, expense management, accounting, blockchain, credit cards and more. Take a look at the fintech deals selected from 1st - 8th September:
  • HomeLight (San-Francisco, CA, US), a real estate technology platform, announced a new $363 million (€307.2m) round of funding
  • Wave (Toronto, Canada), a mobile money provider, has raised $200 million (€169m) in Series A round of funding
  • Offchain Labs (New York,NYC, US), a provider of scaling solutions for Ethereum, raised $120M (€101.5m) in Series B funding
  • MNT-Halan (Giza, Egypt) , a fintech ecosystem which connects consumers, vendors and micro-enterprises through a digital platform and payment solutions, receives US$120 (€101.5m) Funding
  • Clicklease (Salt Lake City, UT, US), a fintech company providing payment solutions in the commercial equipment space, raised $63m (€53.3m) in Series A funding
  • Jeeves (New York, NYC, US), an expense management platform for global startups, raised $57M (€48.2m) in Series B funding at a $500M (€423m) valuation
  • Other interesting funding rounds for this week: Vic.ai $50M (€42.3m), Simba Chain $25m (€21.1m), Jetty $23 million (€19.4m), Mooncard €20M (€16.9m)
