Hello fintech enthusiast,
Today we’re finishing up this year’s Amsterdam FinTech Week (XFW20) edition! It’s been a week of interesting events, both online and offline, gathering innovative players from the industry to debate on the latest trends and subjects. We also enjoyed having our Launch Party physical event in months. There we were also able to announce our contribution to the European FinTech Navigator, a project by Fintech AERA to deliver an interactive access point to the European Fintech Ecosystem!
And while we were networking and having thoughtful fintech discussions, our team browsed again through the news and collected for you interesting pieces - news, investment deals, research, analysis & opinion.

Highlights from last weeks news related to fintech
  • The European Commission aims that by 2022 a new set of legislation frameworks for fintech is expected
  • Kraken, a US-based cryptocurrency, has become the first US crypto bank
  • The FinCEN Files are currently investigating how some of the world’s biggest banks have allowed criminals to move dirty money around the world
  • Tink, an open banking platform, acquired OpenWrks
  • Volt Bank, an Australian consumer neobank, launched a partnership with Microsoft for a new BaaS platform

  • Affirm, an American financial technology company which lets users take out microloans at the point of sale with participating vendors, raised $500m (€429.9m)
  • Nuvei raised C$700 million (€450.8m), making it the biggest tech offering in the history of the Toronto Stock Exchange
  • Ideal, a Brazil-based broker dealer, raised R 100 million (€15.45m) in Series A funding
  • Marco Financial, a tech-enabled financing platform built for small and medium-sized Latin American exporters, raised $26M (€22.35m)
  • Zoop, a mobile payment platform, secured R $60 million (€9.27m)
  • EasySend, a company which helps banks and insurance companies to quickly convert paper forms and PDFs into digital experiences, raised $16m (€13.76m)
  • Next Insurance, an online-based insurance company for entrepreneurs and small businesses, raised $250m (€214.95m)
  • SpotOn Transact, a payments and software company redefining the merchant services industry, raised $60m (€51.59m)
