This piece argues that before the COVID-19 pandemic, the amount of funding being poured into fintech as well as the changing of the guard at many early high achievers signalled a systemic change in the industry – what this article calls “accelerated evolution”. It further argues that this change will be hastened by the covid-19 pandemic, but as it so nicely puts it – “You can’t put the toothpaste back in tube.”
