Weekly funding highlights 2 October 2020

Robinhood Markets (Menlo Park, CA, US), an American financial services company, raised $660 million (€563.54m). The new funding was gathered from existing investors in Robinhood, including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, DST Global, Ribbit Capital, 9Yards Capital, and D1 Capital Partners. Read more

Greenlight Financial Technology (Atlanta, Georgia, US), a financial services company, raised $215m (€183.58m) in Series C funding led by Canapi Ventures and TTV Capital with participation from new investors BOND, DST Global, Goodwater Capital and Fin VC along with Greenlight’s first institutional investor Relay Ventures. The company intends to use the funds to expand its business reach. Read more

October (Paris), a digital lender for SMEs, raised an overall funding of $300 million (€258 million) from various partners. With the new accumulated sum, October plans on developing its traditional SME loans, tourism industry and Italian SMEs. Read more

Alkami Technology (Plano, TX, US), provider of cloud-based digital banking solutions for credit unions and banks, raised a $140 million (€119.54m) venture funding round, led by D1 Capital Partners, with participation from existing investor Fidelity Management & Research Company, Franklin Templeton, and Stockbridge Investors. Gusto, a cloud-based payroll provider of benefits and human resource management software, raised $200 million in order to provide new offerings that will give employees better financial and health options through their employers. Read more

Petal (New York), a credit card company, raised $55m (€46.96m) in Series C funding from Valar Ventures, with participation from Rosecliff Ventures, Afore Capital, RiverPark Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, GR Capital, Nelstone Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Ride Ventures, The Gramercy Fund, Adventure Collective, Starta Ventures, and NFL star Kelvin Beachum, Jr. With the new sum, Petal plans on expanding the reach of its business. Bitpanda (Vienna), an Austrian broker focused on cryptocurrency investments, closed a $52m (€44.40m) Series A funding round, led by Valar Ventures with participation from Speedinvest and others. With the new sum, Bitpanda will expand its workforce, build an European product and become a stock trading platform. Read more

Airwallex (Melbourne), a provider of foreign currency and international payments, has raised $40 million (€34.15m) from Square Peg Capital, with participation from Skip Capital. Other key investors in the company include DST Global, Salesforce Ventures, and Tencent Holdings. With the new sum, Airwallex will invest in its products and expansion plans to Asia Pacific and Europe. Read more

Papaya Global (New York), an Israeli SaaS platform automating global payroll and global HR processes, has raised $40 million (€34.15m) in a Series B round of funding led by Scale Venture Partners. Workday Ventures, Access Industries and previous investors Insight Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, New Era Ventures, Group 11 and Dynamic Loop also participated. Read more

Ripjar (Gloucestershire, UK), a data intelligence and analytics platform solutions, has raised $36.8 million (€31.42m) in a Series B funding led by Long Ridge Equity Partners, with previous investors Winton Capital Ltd. and Accenture plc also participating. The funding will be used to expand the company’s AI platform Labyrinth. Read more

Axis Security (San Mateo, CA, US), a company which provides safe remote access to companies’ systems by third parties, raised a $32 million (€27.32m) Series B investment led by Canaan Partners, with participation from existing investors Ten Eleven Ventures and Cyberstarts. Read more

PayCargo  (Coral Gables, Florida, US), a payments network for the global supply chain industry, raised $35m (€29.88m) in funding from Insight Partners. The company will use the funding to expand global adoption of its electronic payments network and accelerate investments in its technology. Read more

Facet Wealth (Baltimore, US), an online financial planning firm, raised $25 million (€21.35m) from Warburg Pincus and other existing ventures. With the new funding, the company will invest in its current financial services in order to reach more individuals, irrespective of their wealth levels. Read more

Coralogix (San Francisco, CA, US), a machine learning powered log analytics solution, raised a $25 million (€21.35m) Series B funding led by Red Dot Capital Partners and O.G. Tech Ventures, with help from existing investors Aleph VC, StageOne Ventures, Janvest Capital Partners and 2B Angels. With the new funding, Coralogix plans on expanding its marketing and sales operations. Read more
