04 Oct Toronto Global Visits Holland FinTech
The Canadian government gives a regional mandate to Toronto Global to welcome and support foreign companies when they are expanding to the Toronto region. Two representatives of Toronto Global are visiting the Netherlands between October 30 and November 4 and they have a very interesting proposition for Dutch companies. Toronto opens a lot of opportunities for the American market as well.
Toronto is Canada’s largest technology hub and the third largest in North America with the most fiber optic cable of any North American city. Toronto’s tech sector is underpinned by a strong startup ecosystem that is supported by a cluster of incubators and accelerators. These organizations are highly collaborative and foster innovation through the sharing of ideas, encouraging entrepreneurship and building partnerships.Incubators include: MaRS Incubator, Ryerson’s Digital Media Zone (DMZ), OCAD University’s Mobile Experience Innovation Centre (MEIC), and many more.
There are some criteria that Toronto Global is looking to start discussions with the following type of companies:
- Can strengthen and diversify the supply chain in key clusters such as Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Agrifood, Renewable Energy, Financial Services and FinTech;
- Can bring knowledge and intensive resources to leverage and stimulate innovation currently taking place in the Toronto region;
- Create (highly skilled) jobs;
- Are reputable and have an operating and financial track record;
- Are financially able to expand internationally; and
- Demonstrate evidence that they are considering an expansion or they have a need to expand, for example significant market share in their sector.
