Van Doorne has published a report on considering of privacy implications while applying blockchain technologies. As blockchain is a way to store and share information on large scale including personal data, privacy rules should be taken into account. The privacy rules are found in EU privacy directive and the directive will be replaced by General Data Protection Regulation by 25 May 2018. There are many criteria that should be met for legitimate processing of personal data. The report lists some specific privacy principles which are of relevance such as the concepts of personal data, controllership, data minimization and rights of data subjects.
