26 Feb Will fintech disrupt the financial planning business? - Webinar

On the 16th of february Thomas Bunnik, CEO of online wealth management platform Pritle & Holland Fintech’s Don Ginsel were guests in a webinar hosted by the financial planner association FFP.

In this webinar they discussed the importance and impact of Fintech on the role of financial planners. Fintech plays a major role in the technological advancements in the financial sector, a sector in which small technology companies will provide more and more financial services that are now provided by banks. This means that the role of banks will become smaller and smaller. The central question of the webinar was therefore what the effect of Fintech will be on the role of the financial planners today and in the future.

One of the main conclusions that was drawn in the discussion was that this role certainly isn’t played out. It is a service that was born out of technological advancements in the past and therefore it can definitely benefit from the advancements of today. The main challenge for planners will be to adapt to new developments and profit from the new chances that will reveal themselves. Thomas Bunnik stated that planners shouldn’t be scared of automatization taking over the human aspects of financial planning. Technological advancements might lead to scalability and news to serve customers. Key will be to accept and embrace the changes happening around us.
