Fintech A.M.: 2-12-2017

Our guide on regtech essentials defined the sector, explained its significance for fintech, how it has changed recently, who the significant players are, and what’s in store for the future, which we also dealt with in our trends in regtech piece, particularly given the European regulations coming into effect in 2018: PSD2, MiFIDII, and GDPR. Following up on these impending European regulations, we also published an article on a Deutsche Bank white paper titled, “Are You PSD2 Ready?”. This piece delved into the complexity and confusion surrounding implementation, especially considering overlapping regulations with GDPR, and how companies have to deal with compliance guidelines that still aren’t set in stone. Deutsche Bank advises firms to not delay in implementing compliance. As regulatory challenges have begun to shift, regtech has come more to the fore because it can smooth out may rough areas. The report explains the virtues of regtech, but is cautious in evaluating it as a panacea for all compliance challenges.]]>
