Amsterdam Data Science (ADS) opens its 7th joint lab, this time with insurer VIVAT. The lab’s goal is to conduct research for the insurance sector on the application of advanced techniques in fields such as: AI, computer science and mathematics.
The focus of the joint ADS & VIVAT lab will be on learning algorithms, fraud detection, text mining and other data science related methods. The lab allocates three projects for PhD students to take part in this research. The projects led by PhD students will be in customer value models, fraud detection and customer acquisition/multi-touchpoint customer journey.
Ron van Oijen, VIVAT’s CEO says that “the collaboration with the knowledge institutes of Amsterdam Data Science gives us the opportunity to develop and apply new technologies within our field.” Moreover, he adds that “by working closely together, VIVAT gains not only access to state-of-the-art knowledge, but also to talent and the ability to work together with researchers on VIVAT’s challenges.”
According to Marc Salomon, management team member of Amsterdam Data Science and dean of the Amsterdam Business School (UvA), ADS benefits from the opportunity “to work on issues that are relevant to society and the environment. The partnership with VIVAT creates the possibility to work with unique data.” Overall, this symbiosis in the form of joint ‘Insurance Lab’ promotes both innovative research and educational content.
