Main open banking events in 2018

Open banking is a crucial topic in 2018, with PSD2 and GDPR requiring countries to comply to EU-wide legislation. Although PSD2’s official date of entry into force has already passed, for many countries and companies it remains unclear what kind of an impact it will make and how to adapt. Nonetheless, open banking is a driving force behind financial innovation with the consumer’s interest at heart. Below, we have listed a number of main open banking-related events, spread across Europe for those interested in learning more about the topic.

GDPR:Summit, 30th of January, London, UK

The GDPR Summit in London is aimed at preparing stakeholders for the GDPR regulation, which is planned to enter into force in May 2018. The summit is a single-day conference with 3 main theatres: GDPR Roadmap, HR GDPR Briefing and Roadmap for Marketers, where a multitude of experts take the stage in interactive sessions.

GDPR Countdown Events, 6th of February, Copenhagen, Denmark; 8th of February, Oslo, Norway; 9th of February, Helsinki Finland; 14th of February, Stockholm, Sweden

The GDPR Countdown series are hosted in the Nordics. With 3 months left to prepare for GDPR, IDC is organizing the events the educate organisations about best practices and state-of-the-art technologies. Additionally, Nordic organizations will be assessed on their GDPR readiness and advice will be distributed on key requirements such as data protection by design and default, data minimization, right-to-be-forgotten and encryption & pseudonomysation.

PSD2 & GDPR Forum, 19th-20th of February, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Kinfos, who organises the event, recognized the demand for information regarding understanding, forming of expectations, what is allowed and what kind of impact PSD2 & GDPR are expected to make. To address this demand, Kinfos is organizing the first combined forum on PSD2 and GRPR enabling stakeholders to work towards finding possible solutions in order to navigate through the (sometimes conflicting) regulations.

Open Banking Summit, 25th of April, London, UK

The Event Creation Network realizes that the discussion regarding open banking is still in its early stages. Therefore, they created the Open Banking Summit to inform parties on how to keep up with competition by quickly adopting APIs and building industry beneficial partnerships. At the event, attendants will have the possibility to network with industry leaders and get exposure to best practices for rethinking legacy designs, building market share through new and unique customer experiences and simplifying expensive and cumbersome back-end processes.

European Data Protection Days, 14th-15th of May, Berlin

On the 14th and 15th of May, Euroforum brings privacy institutions, privacy officers and data protection specialists from all over the world together to educate interested parties on GDPR, the ePrivacy directory and more privacy topics. The conference will provide attendants with all the important news and updates for high-level international data protection.
