April MeetUp, when festivals and fintech meet

Last Friday, April the 13th, was a lucky day for everyone with an interest in fintech, especially if they like to visit music festivals as well. On this day, we held the April version of our monthly meetups, this time in collaboration with the Future Festival Bootcamp and organized by our host Moneyou. It was a special edition as the focus of the event was on fintech solutions for music festival.

Introduction

The meetup was located in the Startup Village in Amsterdam’s Science Park. The sun was shining and the attendees were gathering around the entrance while enjoying some refreshments before the event officially started. As usual, our CEO Don Ginsel kicked off the event by welcoming everyone and presenting the agenda of the day. Moneyou’s CCO Bas Boelhouwers also took the time for a welcoming speech, to present the innovative ideas behind Moneyou and pave the way for the Keynote Speaker of the day.

Speaking Sessions

Our Keynote Speaker was DGTL’s Global Director, Gerke de Groot. During the talk, Gerke introduced the payment related fintech solutions DGTL applies at their innovative music festivals. Next up was Yuki Mitsunaga of Salesforce in collaboration with Pascal van Ham of Tonychocolonely. Together they showed the audience how both parties worked together to create fantastic events for their customers.

Company Pitches

The next section of the meetup allowed a number of start-ups to pitch their solutions. The first pitch was done by Tony van der Zanden, representing Creative Dock. He introduced the audience to their proposition to make festivals queue-free. Next up was Robert-Jan Verheggen of Klippa, who talked about their solution digibon.io that removes the physical aspect of receipts. Last but not least, Gerdien Wessels and Manoli Tsigonakis of VR Composers swept the audience off their feet with their augmented reality solution that helps people to discover cities with their smartphone.

Drinks & Networking

At the end of the meetup, Don concluded the session with some final remarks. Naturally, this was followed up by drinks and networking time under relaxed circumstances made available by Moneyou.
