The start-up provides a cloud-based core banking engine that replaces a bank’s entire back-end, with the purpose making the administration of retail investment and savings accounts more efficient.
The popular tech publication annually releases a list of 100 top European tech companies based in major European cities.
Ohpen is joined by MessageBird, Fairphone, Helloprint, Shypple, Hiber, Otrium, and Harver in the 2018 class.
With inclusion on the list, Ohpen joins elite company with payment service provider Adyen and trading app Bux, who have both made appearances in previous years.
Angelique Schouten, a global board member at Ohpen, said making the list was very exciting for the company. “We’re already well-known in the Netherlands,” she says, “and being included in the Wired list gives us a boost internationally.”
Schouten established the organisation in the UK, where she acted as CEO. Ohpen also has an office in Spain, and has been featured in Bloomberg and Forbes.
“We’re IT nerds at Ohpen, so for us Wired is just so cool,” she adds.
