Klarna integrates with Dutch mobile bank bunq

The Sweden-based payments solutions provider for web shops integrated with the Dutch bank via a direct API. Now, customers using Klarna’s Pay Now feature can choose bunq from the list of supported banks, and can pay with a single click.

In a press release, Klarna indicates that the partnership has PSD2 at its centre, as the two companies seek to prioritise consumers by offering them frictionless payment experiences.

Pay Now can accommodate local as well as international payments, and the integration is being rolled out in 14 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The integration is also a part of bunq’s European expansion efforts.

Henrique Di Lorenzo, new growth partnerships manger at Klarna, states:

“With this new direct API integration, we’re setting the standard for smooth payments experiences for mobile shoppers. For us, this integration is the prime example of how partnering with banks can optimise user experience. It’s also an invitation to all other banks to work with us to establish other opportunities to optimise user experiences.”
