Yolt opens open-banking API for business, and energy comparison for consumers

The smart money platform which encourages users to “unthink money”by aggregating and overviewing your spending habits, has announced their ambitious future roadmap for businesses across Europe. Yolt for Business will offer a single API covering account aggregation and payment service initiation, appealing to businesses by providing insights into their finances. They further announced a partnership with MoneySuperMarket to offer users the ability to compare and switch energy providers in-app, from early March.

Yolt has the luxury of experience after providing their “unthink money” API for businesses across the UK, taking advantage or earlier implementation of open-banking regulations. They succeeded in making open-banking API connections with all CMA9 banks on ‘High St’. As Europe braces itself for the implementation of incoming PSD2 requirements, Yolt is primed to allow account holders (business and personal alike) to take control of their financial information and improve their financial health.

While currently sending more API requests than any other provider in Europe, their CBO is enthusiastic about the potential for even more growth:

“After building and tailoring Yolt for Business over the last year, we’re really proud to offer it out to the European market and, by doing so, bringing “Unthink Money” to an even wider audience. Personally, I’m looking forward to sparking conversation with innovators across Europe.”

Complementing their spending insights will be a partnership with MoneySuperMarket, a price comparison website, helping consumers make use of insights gained from overviewing their finances. Yolt CEO Frank Jan said of the announced service:

“UK householders can save hundreds of pounds a year by switching their energy supplier, and at Yolt we wanted to make it even easier. It’s yet another step we’re taking to raise the bar in mobile experiences and empower our users to spend smarter and save smarter.”
