five degrees certified as a ‘cool vendor’

Gartner, a research and advisory firm, have certified the innovation drivers within the banking industry as ‘Cool Vendors’, naming companies who prioritise operational agility, data science and ecosystem leveraging. Digital banking pioneers Five Degrees were stamped with the ‘Cool Vendor’ badge for their ‘Matrix Accounts’ core banking system.

Gartner highlighted Five Degress’ emphasis on microservices rather than monolithic overhaul as a key factor that has led to them becoming innovation drivers. The Amsterdam-based core banking providers were lauded for this approach which allows banks to deliver services faster to market, rationalise associated costs and tailor services in response to business desires. Perhaps most importantly, their microservices approach encourages greater collaboration with fintech in a myriad of touch points – allowing for the movement towards an ecosystem of financial services being presented to users and ensuring banks’ maintained relevance.
