As the virus expands and new problems arise that complicate health institutions operations. Now hospitals and health institutions have to worry about two crises that ambush them. Covid-19 patients and cybersecurity incidents.
A couple of months ago, the University Hospital of Brno (Czech Republic) began to reject new patients suffering from serious conditions. Urgent surgeries were postponed and the hospital, which is a key covid-19 testing site in the country, shutdown all computers when a cyber attack occurred.
The hospital’s public announcement system began repeating the message that all staff should shut down all computers immediately because security was vulnerable. And while the cyber attack did not impact the work being done around the coronavirus, it caused disruptions at an exceptionally busy and chaotic time.
