Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is virtual money from central banks. Now, 130 countries explore CBDCs (up from 35 in 2020). 64 nations are in advanced stages, including 19 G20 countries. China’s pilot covers 260 million people. Over 20 countries plan CBDC pilots in 2023, and the European Central Bank will pilot the digital euro. Dutch FinTech Census 2023 Report (EY)

The Dutch FinTech Census 2023, conducted by EY, reveals 861 FinTechs, up from 635 in 2019. Amsterdam hosts 40% of these.
