AMSTERDAM, July 8, 2021 – Global consulting firm Protiviti is pleased to announce the appointment of Remke Schermer as Business Development Director Risk & Compliance. Remke will be focused on larger national and international Risk & Compliance projects within the Financial Services Industry.

Protiviti is a recognized leader helping the world’s largest financial institutions with deep expertise in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management and improving Internal Control. Bringing more than 25 years of experience, Remke will be working together with Owen Strijland to further strengthen our team in The Netherlands that is working with some of the largest financial institutions and numerous FinTech’s headquartered in The Netherlands.

“We are delighted to welcome Remke to the team. Remke is result driven and has a proven track record of effecting change in complex global organizations. She understands what it takes to work on cross border engagements, understanding the cultural and regulatory differences between markets. Remke is able to influence leaders and turning strategy into reality, being hands-on and pragmatic at the same time. Most importantly, she understands that the human aspects of an organization and the impact of change on people should never be overlooked”, says Anneke Wieling, Country Managing Director Protiviti The Netherlands.

Prior to joining Protiviti, Remke has worked for various companies in different branches. She has managed many complex international programs and projects, ranging from IT, and business integration projects to large regulatory projects. Remke’s work is characterized by finding good balance between the client’s needs and constraints on the one hand, and scope, budget and timelines on the other hand.

“I am so proud to be working for a consulting company that really values the client’s needs and is a strong advocate of embedding its consulting knowledge within the client’s organization. Protiviti’s consultancy is characterized by working very inclusively with external and internal stakeholders. Protiviti’s team is dynamic, creative and innovative and I am looking forward to working with all of them, nationally and internationally, in bringing the best solutions to our clients.”

In her spare time, Remke studies clinical psychology, something she wanted to do since childhood. She is volunteer treasurer of the “Fonds Urgente Noden Haarlem”. As donor of International Theater Amsterdam, Remke visits the theater regularly. You may also find her in the Dutch dunes, where she takes long walks or morning runs, contemplating on what moves and drives people and their intrinsic motivations.
