Eindhoven, 8 March - The accountancy sector is under the spell of digital transformation. It is especially important not to lose sight of the human dimension. That is the main conclusion of the second edition of Hyarchis’ Accountancy Magazine, published today.
The sector has to endure a lot, writes investigative journalist Wilbert Geijtenbeek in the magazine: talent is hard to find, partners are too, private equity firms are ready to take over accountancy firms, and how do you keep pace with the ongoing digitization?
Well, not by leaving everything to the computer, says Gerdien Vlot on behalf of the NBA: ‘The accountant is there to be critical. People must be able to rely on our professional judgment.’ In times of corona, she saw accountants return to their role as a sparring partner and independent advisor.
Another trend in the market: the regulator is becoming active. Laws and regulations are becoming increasingly strict. Gilbert Verhulst (Moore DRV) talks about what it’s like to be scrutinized by the AFM, and Peter Rijsdijk (Dapas) gives tips on how firms can stay compliant.
