ING names Görkem Köseoğlu as new chief technology officer

ING, one of the leading Dutch banking corporations, has recently made a significant announcement that is sure to shape the future of their technological endeavors. The bank has appointed Görkem Köseoğlu as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and member of the Management Board Banking. This appointment marks a crucial step in Köseoğlu’s career within ING and reinforces the bank’s commitment to technological advancement.

Köseoğlu will officially take over the position of CTO on 1st September, succeeding the former CTO, Ron van Kemenade, who stepped down from the role at the end of April. This appointment comes after an extensive search for a visionary leader to steer ING’s technological strategy into the future.

Currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of wholesale banking at ING, Danny Nijhuis will be succeeding Köseoğlu by assuming the role of COO Netherlands. This reshuffling of top-level positions within the bank reflects ING’s dedication to internal talent development and creating a seamless transition of responsibilities.

In his current role as COO at ING Netherlands, Köseoğlu has played a pivotal role in leading various critical functions, including client services activities, the global transformation office, and delivery tribes specializing in data management, Know Your Customer (KYC) services, collections, and fraud management. His contributions have been instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience within the bank.

Before taking on the COO role, Köseoğlu served as the Chief Analytics Officer for ING Group from January 2018 to September 2020. During this tenure, he played a key role in establishing the bank’s global analytics unit and driving data-driven decision-making processes. His expertise in analytics and data management has been highly valued by ING.

Prior to joining ING in 2012, Görkem Köseoğlu spent more than a decade at the prestigious consultancy firm McKinsey & Company. His work within the financial institutions practice and business technology practice at McKinsey provided him with extensive knowledge and experience in the financial industry.

The European Central Bank has officially approved Köseoğlu’s appointment to the role of CTO, validating his expertise and leadership capabilities in the financial technology domain. With this approval, ING can confidently move forward with its technology-driven initiatives under Köseoğlu’s guidance.
