European Pension Survey (Goldman Sachs Asset Management)

The European Pension Fund Survey reveals a positive outlook among pension funds despite economic challenges. Key points include a focus on fixed income for high returns, a significant commitment to sustainable investments, and reliance on external expertise for portfolio management. Overall, pension funds are strategically positioning themselves to capitalize on opportunities, prioritize sustainability, and enhance portfolio management capabilities. Read more

Pension funds look to sell real estate investments (IPE)

European pension funds, as per a survey by Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), are showing a strong aversion to real estate investments, with nearly a third intending to sell such assets. Instead, they prefer allocating funds to investment-grade bonds and private loans, anticipating better returns. Notably, pension funds express interest in continuing to invest in private assets like private credit, equity, and infrastructure. Sustainability considerations, particularly Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, play a significant role in decision-making, with a majority of respondents integrating ESG into their investment strategies. However, concerns about greenwashing by asset managers persist. GSAM launches a new Green Bond ETF, offering passive investment options in green bonds, aiming to complement existing actively managed green bond funds. Read more

The EBA publishes final draft technical standards on complaints handling for issuers of asset referenced tokens (European Banking Authority)

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has finalized draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) governing the handling of complaints by issuers of asset reference tokens (ARTs), in accordance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). Developed with input from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), these standards address various aspects of complaints management, following a public consultation period. The EBA made targeted amendments to enhance clarity and alignment with ESMA’s standards, particularly regarding languages, data protection, and electronic complaint submission. These RTS will come into effect twenty days after their publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Read more
