ING Netherlands has initiated the development of a new head office at Bijlmerdreef 98 in Amsterdam Zuidoost, taking over the location from NSI. The bank plans to create a sustainable and future-proof office, aligning with its existing head office locations in Amsterdam. ING aims to move into the new office by mid-2027. Michel van Wissen, Head of Corporate Real Estate Management & Facility Services at ING Netherlands, expresses the bank’s strong connection to Amsterdam South East and anticipates the development of an office meeting essential sustainability requirements and modern employment standards.
The new office, named Linden, emphasizes sustainability, featuring climate-adaptive design with high standards such as heat and cold storage, climate ceilings, solar panels on the roof, and water storage. The adjacent park, an extension of the ING Group headquarters, Cedar, will incorporate special plants to enhance biodiversity in the neighborhood. ING aspires to achieve the BREEAM Outstanding certificate for Linden, akin to the current status of Cedar.
Designed by Paul de Ruiter Architects, Linden spans 42,000 m² with 13 floors and two interconnected buildings housing six atria. The office adopts an open and transparent layout, offering flexible workspaces that align with ING’s agile working approach. With a capacity to accommodate 2,435 employees daily, ING plans to utilize the modern environment for hybrid work, allowing 50% of employees to work at the office and 50% remotely. The total capacity for the building, considering other nearby head office locations, is set for 4,850 employees. ING invested EUR 24 million in the acquisition of the new location.
